  • How to Register:  Registration is available online, by phone, or in person at the OIFC- print off an entry form from this site.
  • Entry Fee:  This is a per angler competition.  Any individual wishing to participate must have purchased a Rodeo ticket for the species BEFORE having caught the fish they are weighing.  Tickets are $20 per species.

  • Awards:  A closing ceremony and awards presentation will occur at the annual "bluefin blitz" on December 6th, 2008.
  • Prizes:  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to anglers who catch the heaviest fish for each eligible species.

What Makes the Jolly Mon Unique?

      1. It is a one day tournament, with an optional weather day...
This one day approach is a big reason the tournament has been successful. It attracts the family fishermen who believe they have a better shot at winning- or better yet the fishermen who appreciates a good day fishing, not an entire weekend of hard work!
      2. There is no checkout... BUT, there are boundaries..
Fishermen can fish out of any port they choose within boundaries so as long as their lines are not in the water before 7:00am and they are in weight-in line by 5:00pm.  This means easy fishing while always keeping on an even playing field.
      3. It is family oriented...
The Jolly Mon recognizes the importance of the family and fishing and offers a complimentary  dinner for everyone and medallions for all Junior anglers participating in the event. The Jolly Mon is run in an orderly, clean-cut manner.

HOW TO GET THERE AND WHERE TO STAYIf staying and fishing out of Morehead City/Beaufort.  The ramp is located on HWY 70E just after the Civic Center on the right.  You can either stay at the Quality Inn (252-247-3434 - tell them your fishing and the rate should be $64.99/night) and park your boat in their parking lot and launch daily or you can put in and get a slip over at the host local weigh-in site at Town Creek Marina (252-728-6111 xt 3) and stay back at the Quality Inn or wherever.  If staying and fishing out of Hatteras.  A few ways to get there:  You can either put in at Morehead and run the ocean or the backwater up to Hatteras.  This is not rocket science, but should ONLY be done in day and under good conditinos.  Don't run the backwater if you haven't done it before.  Other problem is you have no vehicle there.  You can also drive to the Cedar Island Ferry and take that ferry to Ocracoke then the next ferry over to Hatteras.  To get the schedule and any directions call 1-800-293-3779.  This is a neat trip and will have you with a vehicle- there are boat ramps near by and parking for trailers, so that isn't much of an issue.  Or you can drive the long way around, which is probably time wise not much longer than the ferry.  Drive up to Manteo, NC and drive down the Outerbanks to Hatteras.  The host weigh-in marina is Hatteras Landing, which has accomodations and dockage available- call (252) 986-2077/ (252) 475-0569 to get set up.

    IMPORTANT CONTACT INFORMATION:
